Salesforce is buying Demandware in a $2.8 billion deal

  • (Reuters) – Cloud-based software maker Salesforce.com Inc said it would buy Demandware Inc, which provides software to design e-commerce websites, for about $2.8 billion.
  • The deal, slated to close in Salesforce’s second quarter ending July, is expected to increase the company’s 2017 revenue by about $100 million to $120 million.
  • Demandware’s shares were up 52.1 percent at $73, while Salesforce slipped 2 percent to $82.00 in premarket trading on Wednesday.
